"Wookie" Ch Pridelands First Impression (In Memoriam)
Wookie was my first Leonberger. He was a New Zealand bred Leonberger born 15/6/99, though his father is a Swedish import. He measured 78cm and weighs 75kg.
He was a fantastic Leonberger, though definitely a turbo-berger! I did advanced obedience classes with him, he happily pulled a cart and we did a lot of breed-showing. He has done very well in the show ring, managing to get Best in Show at a championship show and numerous Group awards. ... in fact he has never been beaten for a CC!!!!! Only a couple of the girls have managed to beat him for Best of Breed. Mostly though he did a fantastic job impressing everyone with his wonderful temperament and huge size, he really was the sweetest boy you could have.
He has fathered 4 litters, one in Australia to Ariel v. Drevas (from which we have Martha) and 2 here in New Zealand to Lejongardens Fjall (the Mighty litter) and Bolelejonet Velvett Violet (the Noble litter).
He was retired from 'showbusiness in 2005, however I took him out of retirement for the 2006 National Dog Show, where he took out Best of Breed with 19 Leonbergers entered
